Credit Union History...

Warren MSD Federal Credit Union received its' charter approval on
June 9, 1965. Not many people, even those who belong to the credit union, know exactly what a credit union is or what makes it different from other financial institutions. The services offered by the credit union are similar to the services offered by other financial institutions, but it is the credit union philosophy that makes them special.

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives - they are owned and governed by their members. Our goal is to serve the members of Warren MSD Federal Credit Union.

In other financial institutions, profits are generated for the benefit of a small group of stockholders. In credit unions, after the credit union's expenses are paid and reserves are set aside, the earnings are returned to the members in the form of dividends and more services.

It is the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People" that has made credit unions successful.

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government strictly regulates credit union activities.
